.Hack//Sign

A young wavemaster, only known by the alias of Tsukasa, wakes up in an MMORPG called The World, with slight amnesia. He does not know what he has previously done before he woke up. In The World, he is suspected to be a hacker of the Crimson Knights, as he was seen accompanying a tweaked character in the form of a cat. Unable to log out from the game, he wanders around looking for answers, avoiding the knights and other players he meets along the way.

As Tsukasa explores The World, he stumbles upon a magical item that takes the form of a 'guardian', which promises him protection from all harm. Subaru, the leader of the Crimson Knights, along with several other players who became acquainted with Tsukasa, set out to investigate why Tsukasa is unable to log out, and attempt to get to the bottom of the problem before it gets out of hand.

Signs! Is that the one with the guy that goes bat-shit crazy when that girl

-------------------

It's been a while since I've watched this anime so my memory is a little fuzzy, but here goes. player.Hack//Sign>;additem f 10000 is a strange little anime from the .Hack series; a story about a game world where the majority of the game consist of dialogue between characters. There are also games in this series that continue on the same story. Depending on how you look at it, .Signs//. is either an Anime as a part of a series with extra content in the form of a game, or itself bonus material for a game.

This makes it a little difficult writing about the anime because I had never played the game.

I'll be honest, I can't tell if I'm remembering Signs or another anime in the series as I write this,  .Hack//Root;... both had terrible protagonists with lots of melodrama. a miserable atmosphere and bitter, tiresome angst. What's worse is I watched both of them entirely, twice, and found myself really enjoying them sometimes, only to be disappointed, deflated every time.

I'll make this quick. The show is let down by two things; Its wasted potential and poor delivery on what is an excellent premise for an anime; and its very nature of being a show as a part of a games series. If you haven't bought into the series, this is not for you.

Music was good.

Series - Unapproved.

 Penalties!
