Production I.G know how to make sports anime

From the same studio that produced kuroko no basked and haikyuu, comes another great sports anime about baseball. What i love about this anime is that it has some pretty sweet character development, great intensity, and it really highlights how unpolished Eijun's play is, and it shows how much he has to work to catch up to everyone else. Although the main character can be a bit silly at times, i personally think it adds to his character because it really makes sense why he puts in so much effort to baseball when his character is the way it is. Can't wait to see more of what this show has to offer because it certainly seems like its got a while to go before it ends.

Give this show a shot, it was entertaining enough for me to watch 34 eps in 2 days!

      Ace of Diamond Review

As a person who seen a fair share of sports animes, I have to say this isn't a bad watch at all. The beginning starts out kind of cheesy and tries to capture you in with I'm so sorry I'm abandoning you guys emotions, but after that it becomes pretty exciting.

Plot: The title, Ace of Diamond basically tells the whole plot. Eijun Sawamura, a freshmen walks in and claims to take the number 1 seat and win the Koshien (High School Baseball Championship) but little does he know that just being able to stand on the mound takes a lot more work, especially in a school full of talents.

Characters: The characters are really typically for a shonen anime- a loud, boastful, egotistic as main character and a more reserve, talented, mysterious rival. A lot of supporting characters with off the wall personalities. And a couple of cute girls as a possible love interest. X[]

Music/soundtracks: I haven't payed much attention to it~ Lol. Fail on my part.

Others: What I love about this anime is that they don't have any inhuman power ups, and strange training that need a lot of explanation. Another thing I like, is that it stays baseball focused- I've seen a couple of animes where the sport was only a part of the anime.

P.S. The closest thing I can compare this anime too is Big Windup! at a faster pace and without the hints of homosexuality.

New found love for sports animes

Before I start my review I feel I should say a short piece about sport animes, in the hope that others might give them a try. I was very skeptical about sports animes, since the majority of anime i watch has a similar themes  e.g naruto, onepiece, bleach, toriko, hunterxhunter etc.

However i have recently found that the sports animes offer similar elements to the animes that I watch, such as hidden potentials, rapid growth, surprising others who think they are weak or useless and comedy. They also animate the sport in a way so that characters have either special abilities or moves that appear allow them to do slightly unrealistic or supernatural things, which I personally love because it resonates with my love of the other supernatural animes which I currently watch.

So my appeal - Please give sports anime a try, for every 6 seconds that you don't watch a sports anime, a writer of a sports anime dies........probably

Anyway for my anti-climactic review of Ace of diamonds:

what I liked:

1) The main character a lot of potential as a pitcher but he is so unpolished at the moment that only the talent scouts and very talented players seem to recognise that his pitching has the potential to become the best (even he doesn't realise his potential).

2) He is not the complete package, therefore he is not in the first team straight away and has to develop his pitching and the rest of his game.

3) there are other players in the same squad who also have a lot of potential or appear to be at a more developed stage at the moment, therefore there is a lot of focus on his development and the battles within the team in order to get a place, as well as the battles against other teams.

4) there is some good comedy moments

I have pretty simple tastes so i rate highly when i enjoy something. I gave 4/5 instead of 5/5 because I am excited to see what happens next, but its too early to tell if this anime will meet expectations or not.

Other sports animes I recommend: hijame no Ippo (boxing), karuko no basket (basketball)
